In 2010, CERD took note of the positive work undertaken by the Multicultural and Information Centre, the Intercultural Centre and the Immigrant Council and encouraged Iceland to continue supporting these centres and consulting them in its development and implementation of policies relevant to the fight against racism and racial discrimination.

According to the author, the differentiation effected by committing the right of use of the fishing banks around Iceland to a circumscribed, privileged group is contrary to Iceland's obligations under article 26 of the Covenant.
