قبل أكثر من عام، أذنت الجمعية العامة بمشاركة اﻷمم المتحدة في البعثة المدنية الدولية الى هايتي.

I wish briefly, on behalf of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama, to state that we fully share in welcoming the recommendation in the Secretary-General’s report that the joint participation of the United Nations with the Organization of American States in the International Civilian Mission to Haiti should be continued.

Mr. Javier Zuñiga (of Mexican nationality), formerly Director for Human Rights in the International Civilian Mission to Haiti, was appointed Chief of the Operation as of 23 September 1996.
وقد عُين السيد خافيير سونييغا )المكسيكي الجنسية(، الذي كان مديرا لشؤون حقوق اﻹنسان في البعثة المدنية الدولية في هايتي، رئيسا للعملية اعتبارا من ٢٣ أيلول/سبتمبر ١٩٩٦.

By its resolution 48/27 B of 8 July 1994, the General Assembly renewed the mandate of the participation by the United Nations, with the Organization of American States, in the International Civilian Mission in Haiti for a period of one year.
وقد جددت الجمعية العامة، في قرارها ٤٨/٢٧ باء المــؤرخ ٨ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٤، ولاية مشاركة اﻷمم المتحدة مع منظمة الدول اﻷمريكية في البعثة المدنية الدولية في هايتي لمدة سنة.
