At its fifty-second session, the United Nations General Assembly, in resolution 52/198 of 18 December 1997, approved the institutional linkage between the secretariat and the United Nations, in accordance with the offer of the Secretary-General and as accepted by the Conference of the Parties.
ووافقت الجمعية العامة لﻷمم المتحدة في القرار ٢٥/٨٩١ المؤرخ في ٨١ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ٧٩٩١، على الربط المؤسسي بين اﻷمانة واﻷمم المتحدة، وفقاً للعرض المقدم من اﻷمين العام وحسبما وافق عليه مؤتمر اﻷطراف.

وحيث إن مؤتمــر الأطراف في اتفاقية مكافحــة التصحر قبل كذلك، في الفقرتين 3 و4 من المقرر 3/م أ-1 المؤرخ 10 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 1997، عرض الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة بشأن الربط المؤسسي بين أمانة اتفاقية مكافحة التصحر والأمم المتحدة؛
