With regard to the report of the Secretary-General on the integration of United Nations information centres with field offices of UNDP (A/AC.198/2002/4), a representative of the Department said that it was continuing to implement the views of Member States hosting information centres integrated with the field offices of UNDP in order to strengthen further the efficiency of public information activities.

The General Assembly, in its resolution 52/220 of 22 December 1997, had requested that a report on integration of United Nations information centres with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) be submitted to the Assembly at its fifty-third session.

سابعا - ٧٢ وتشير اللجنة الاستشارية إلى أن الجمعية العامة في الفقرة ٧٨ من قرارها ٢٥/٠٢٢، كررت طلبها الوارد في الفقرة ١١ من قرارها ١٥/٨٣١ باء الى اﻷمين العام مواصلة دمج مراكز اﻷمم المتحدة لﻹعلام مع برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹنمائي.

The integration of United Nations information centres with field offices of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) should be pursued on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the views of the countries concerned and at the same time ensuring the effective functioning of those centres.
٣٩ - واختتم قائلا إنه ينبغي تنفيذ إدماج مراكز اﻷمم المتحدة لﻹعلام مع المكاتب الميدانية لبرنامج اﻷمم المتحدة الانمائي على أساس كل حالة على حدة، مع مراعاة آراء البلدان المعنية والعمل في الوقت ذاته على ضمان اﻷداء الفعال لهذه المراكز.

٣٨ - وفيما يتعلق بموضوع إدماج مراكز اﻷمم المتحدة لﻹعلام مع المكاتب الميدانية لبرنامج اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹنمائي، طالبت وفود كثيرة بضرورة النظر في أي إدماج على أساس كل حالة على حدة، مع مراعاة آراء البلدان المضيفة.
