Under the principles of international law the Iranian occupation of the islands cannot alter their legal status or bestow sovereignty on the occupier, however long it may last.
إن الاحتلال اﻹيراني للجزر لا يغير الوضع القانوني لها، ولا يكسب سيادة للطرف المحتل مهما طال أمد الاحتلال بناء على المبدأ المستقر في القانون الدولي.

In this context, the Iranian occupation of our three islands poses a direct threat to the security of the region in general, and to that of the United Arab Emirates in particular.
وإن الاحتلال اﻹيراني للجزر الثلاث يسبب تهديدا مباشرا ﻷمن المنطقة، ولدولة اﻹمارات العربية المتحدة بالذات.

We had also welcomed the establishment of a three-member ministerial committee by the Gulf Cooperation Council to be charged with developing a mechanism for the start of serious negotiations between the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The underlying hope is that a peaceful, just and lasting settlement be reached, one that would bring to an end the Iranian occupation of our three islands.
وقد رحبنا في هذا الصدد بإنشاء اللجنة الثلاثية الوزارية المنبثقة عن مجلس التعاون الخليجي والهادفة إلى وضع آلية لبدء المفاوضات الجادة بين دولة اﻹمارات العربية المتحدة وجمهورية إيران اﻹسلامية، بما يكفل التوصل إلى التسوية السلمية العادلة والدائمة وإنهاء الاحتلال اﻹيراني لجزرنا الثلاث.

Proceeding from these principles, the Council States have on many occasions appealed to Iran to respond to the invitation of the United Arab Emirates to resolve the question of Iranian occupation of the three islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, belonging to the United Arab Emirates, by peaceful means and through serious bilateral negotiations.
وانطلاقا من هذه المبادئ فقد ناشدت دول المجلس ايران مرارا الاستجابة لدعوة دولة اﻹمارات العربية المتحدة لحل قضية الاحتلال اﻹيراني للجزر الثلاث، طنب الكبرى وطنب الصغرى وأبو موسى، التابعة لدولة اﻹمارات العربية المتحدة بالطرق السلمية وعبر المفاوضات الثنائية الجادة.

On a number of occasions, my country has declared from this rostrum its complete readiness to settle this dispute by peaceful means. Hence the initiative by the United Arab Emirates which called for serious and direct negotiations to put an end to the Iranian occupation of our three islands.
لقـــد عبرت بـــلادي مــن على هذا المنبر، وفي مناسبات عديدة، عن استعدادهـــا التام لتسوية هذا النزاع بالطرق السلمية، ومن هنا جـــاءت مبادرة دولة اﻹمارات العربية المتحدة الداعية الــى الدخــــول في مفاوضات جادة ومباشرة ﻹنهاء الاحتلال اﻹيراني للجزر الثلاث.

Over the years, the United Arab Emirates has repeatedly expressed its earnest desire and readiness to enter into serious, direct negotiations with the Iranian Government to reach a settlement to the conflict that would put a peaceful end to the Iranian occupation and fully restore the sovereignty of United Arab Emirates over the three islands.
كما أعربت من جانبها قرارا عن رغبتها الصادقة واستعدادها طوال السنوات الماضية للدخول في مفاوضات جادة ومباشرة مع الحكومة اﻹيرانية لتسوية هذا النزاع، بما ينهي هذا الاحتلال اﻹيراني سلميا، ويعيد الجزر الثلاث بالكامل إلى سيادة دولة اﻹمارات العربية المتحدة.
