This resolution emphasizes two elements of this report, namely to improve the profitability of the commercial activities of the United Nations and to develop new income-generating measures.

The report also addresses the concerns expressed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1997 when it invited the Secretary-General to " propose measures to improve the profitability of the commercial activities of the United Nations, in particular in the sale of publications at Geneva, and, where appropriate, to develop new income-generating measures " .
