Venue 2. Pursuant to provisions contained in paragraph 5 of the annex to decision 1/COP.5, the sixth session of the CRIC will be held during the eighth session of the COP in Madrid, Spain, from 4 to 7 September 2007.
2- عملاً بالأحكام الواردة في الفقرة 5 من مرفق المقرر 1/م أ-5، ستُعقد الدورة السادسة للجنة استعراض تنفيذ الاتفاقية أثناء انعقاد الدورة الثامنة لمؤتمر الأطراف في مدريد، بإسبانيا، في الفترة من 4 إلى 7 أيلول/سبتمبر 2007.

4. It is important to recall that, G77 and China since the first session of the COP in 1997, proposed the establishment of the " Committee to Review the Implementation of the Convention " (CRIC) as subsidiary body of the Conference of the Parties.

The Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) at its eighth session decided, in accordance with article 22, paragraph 5, of the Convention, rule 3 and rule 4, paragraph 3, of the rules of procedure of the COP, to convene an extraordinary session of the COP in New York, before the end of the year 2007.
