1. The present document is submitted pursuant to article 11 (4) of the statute of the Joint Inspection Unit.

1. Articles 2, 3 and 4 of the statute of the Joint Inspection Unit, contained in the annex to General Assembly resolution 31/192, provide as follows:

The President announced that he would propose a candidate for appointment to the Joint Inspection Unit after holding the consultations in accordance with article 3, paragraph 2, of the statute of the Joint Inspection Unit.
وأعلن الرئيس أنه سيقترح مرشحا لتعيينه في وحدة التفتيش المشتركة بعد إجراء مشاورات وفقا للفقرة 2 من المادة 3 من النظام الأساسي لوحدة التفتيش المشتركة.

The President further announced that he would submit a candidate for appointment to the Joint Inspection Unit to the General Assembly, after holding the consultations described in article 3, paragraph 2, of the statute of the Joint Inspection Unit.
وأعلن الرئيس كذلك أنه سيقدم إلى الجمعية العامة مرشحا لتعيينه في وحدة التفتيش المشتركة بعد عقد المشاورات المذكورة في الفقرة 2 من المادة 3 من النظام الأساسي لوحدة التفتيش المشتركة.

Views were also expressed that the time had come to review the statute of the Joint Inspection Unit and revise it in order to adapt it to the present realities and current objectives of the common system.
ورأى البعض أن الوقت قد حان لاستعراض النظام الأساسي لوحدة التفتيش المشتركة وتنقيحه حتي يتماشى مع الواقع الحالي والأهداف الجارية للنظام الموحد.

The view was also expressed that the time had come to review the statute of the Joint Inspection Unit and revise it in order to adapt it to the current realities and objectives of the common system.
ورأى البعض أن الوقت قد حان لاستعراض النظام الأساسي لوحدة التفتيش المشتركة وتنقيحه حتى يتماشى مع الحقائق والأهداف الراهنة للنظام الموحد.
