He outlined the work of the various working groups established by the bureau of the Committee and noted that the draft resolutions reviewed by the Committee had been presented to the Committee of the Whole at its 1st meeting and transmitted to the drafting committee for its consideration.
وقدم موجزاً للأعمال التي قامت بها الأفرقة العاملة المختلفة التي أنشأها مكتب اللجنة، وأشار إلى أن مشاريع القرارات التي استعرضتها اللجنة عُرضت على اللجنة الجامعة في جلستها الأولى، ثم أحيلت إلى لجنة الصياغة للنظر فيها.

COP 8 thus decided to convene an extraordinary session of the COP to agree upon the level of increase in the Convention's budget for the biennium 2008 - 2009, without reopening negotiations on the rest of the text of the draft decision submitted by the Chairperson of the Committee of the Whole at the 9th plenary meeting of the Conference (ICCD/COP(8)/L.27), on which consensus was reached by Parties at COP 8.
16- ولذلك فقد قرر مؤتمر الأطراف، في دورته الثامنة، أن يعقد دورة استثنائية للاتفاق على مستوى الزيادة في ميزانية الاتفاقية لفترة السنتين 2008-2009، دون إعادة فتح باب المفاوضات بشأن بقية نص مشروع المقرر المقدم من رئيس اللجنة الجامعة في الجلسة العامة التاسعة للمؤتمر (ICCD/COP(8)/L.27) الذي توصلت الأطراف إلى توافق آراء بشأنه في الدورة الثامنة لمؤتمر الأطراف.

57. Ms. Smyth (Australia) said that, following consultations with other delegations, she wished to propose that the second sentence of paragraph 4, as adopted by the Committee of the Whole at the 907th meeting, should be replaced by the following wording: " Such communications shall be made at the same time, except as otherwise authorized by the arbitral tribunal, if it may do so under applicable law. "

"
