Also noting paragraph 5 of the Malmö Ministerial Declaration, / as well as the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, in particular Part XII, and the work programme of marine and coastal biodiversity under the Jakarta Mandate on Marine and Coastal Biological Diversity of the Convention on Biological Diversity,

Such action would build on the International Coral Reefs Initiative and global reef assessments to ensure food security and fish stock replenishment and would provide a focus for implementation of the Jakarta Mandate on Coastal and Marine Biodiversity, including marine protected areas and the Global Programme of Action.

10. The second meeting of the Conference of the Parties adopted decision II/10 on marine and coastal biological diversity, the Jakarta Mandate.

We support the International Coral Reef Initiative and acknowledge the work carried out under the Jakarta Mandate on Marine and Coastal Biological Diversity.
