42. In its resolution 1595 (2005), the Security Council requested that the Commission assist the Lebanese authorities in their investigation of all aspects of the 14 February 2005 terrorist act.

2. In April 2005, in the aftermath of the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri, the Security Council decided to establish an international independent investigation Commission based in Lebanon to assist the Lebanese authorities in their investigation of all aspects of this terrorist act.
2 - وفي نيسان/أبريل 2005، بعد اغتيال رئيس الوزراء اللبناني السابق، رفيق الحريري، قرر مجلس الأمن الدولي إنشاء لجنة تحقيق دولية مستقلة تتخذ من لبنان مقرا لها لمساعدة السلطات اللبنانية في تحقيقاتها في هذا العمل الإرهابي، بجميع جوانبه().

Following the report of the Secretary-General's mission of inquiry into the attack, the Council, on 7 April, unanimously adopted resolution 1595 (2005), setting up an International Independent Investigation Commission to assist the Lebanese authorities in their investigation of all aspects of the assassination of the former Prime Minister.
