Implementation of the Peacebuilding Support Plan

The Committee comprises representatives from the Government, international partners, the United Nations and civil society, and the funds have now been allocated to two priority deliverables in the Peacebuilding Support Plan: vocational and literacy training for youth; and the building of haffirs and water-points in crisis-prone areas.

Following consultations with the Government, UNMISS and the United Nations country team applied for funds from the Peacebuilding Support Office in the amount of $10 million for 2 of the 15 priority deliverables in the Peacebuilding Support Plan which are being implemented: vocational and literacy training for youth; and the building of haffirs and water-points in crisis-prone areas.
60 - عقب إجراء مشاورات مع الحكومة، طلبت البعثة وفريق الأمم المتحدة القطري الحصول على أموال من مكتب دعم بناء السلام بمبلغ 10 ملايين دولار لاثنين من المنجزات الخمسة عشرة ذات الأولوية في خطة دعم بناء السلام التي يجري تنفيذها، وهما: التدريب المهني ومحو الأمية لدى الشباب؛ وبناء الحفر ومراكز توزيع المياه في المناطق المعرضة للأزمات.

53. In the first quarter of 2013, the Fund approved a contribution of $10 million to support two priorities targeting rural and underserved areas within the Peacebuilding Support Plan developed by the Government and the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan in 2012: (a) improved economic and employment opportunities for young people; and (b) access to water resources for both human and livestock consumption.

Also at the request of the Government, the Peacebuilding Support Plan organizes United Nations engagement around the five " Peacebuilding and State-building Goals " agreed in Busan late in 2011 as part of the New Deal for International Engagement in Fragile States, for which South Sudan is a self-nominated pilot country.

As requested by the Government, the Peacebuilding Support Plan focuses on key peacebuilding priorities extracted from the South Sudan Development Plan, as well as political transition processes stipulated in the 2011 Transitional Constitution, clarifying the roles of UNMISS, the United Nations country team and partners in supporting implementation.
