These cases, as well as the phenomenon of impunity, its roots and adverse consequences for the rule of law and justice in Cambodia, were analysed in detail in a 2005 report of the Special Representative of the SecretaryGeneral for human rights in Cambodia, which remains a landmark contribution to understanding the continuing patterns of impunity in Cambodia.

Requests the SecretaryGeneral to report to the Commission at its sixtieth session on the role and achievements of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in assisting the Government and the people of Cambodia in the promotion and protection of human rights and on the recommendations made by the Special Representative of the SecretaryGeneral for human rights in Cambodia on matters within his mandate;

59. OHCHR in Cambodia is mandated to support the Special Representative of the SecretaryGeneral for human rights in Cambodia, Mr. Yash Ghai, in the discharge of his mandate to assist the Government and people of Cambodia in the promotion and protection of human rights.

632. Also at the 55th meeting, Mr. Peter Leuprecht, Special Representative of the SecretaryGeneral for human rights in Cambodia, introduced his report (E/CN.4/2005/116).
