President Nkurunziza (spoke in French): It is a distinct honour to address this Assembly on the occasion of the sixtieth regular session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, an important milestone in the life of our Organization.

1. The Secretary-General has the honour to place before the General Committee, for its consideration, the following observations and proposals in connection with the report to be made to the General Assembly by the General Committee regarding the organization of the sixtieth regular session and future sessions of the Assembly, the adoption of the agenda and the allocation of items.

1. The Chairman drew attention to the memorandum by the Secretary-General regarding the organization of the sixtieth regular session of the General Assembly, adoption of the agenda and allocation of items (A/BUR/60/1 and Add.1).

Mr. Arias (Panama) (spoke in Spanish): I have the honour to inform the Assembly that, in addition to the Member States listed in paragraph 1 of the report of the Credentials Committee for the sixtieth regular session of the General Assembly, Angola, Georgia, Senegal and Tajikistan have submitted official credentials in due form, in accordance with Article 27 of the rules of the General Assembly.
