3. The Secretary-General solicited the views of Governments on the report and the proposed supplement to the Standard Rules in a note verbale dated 6 June 2003.

Operative paragraph 2 requested the Secretary-General to seek the views of Governments on an effective mechanism for the collection of such weapons and to submit a report to the General Assembly at its forty-ninth session.

32. With regard to the long-term programme of work, the Commission would welcome the views of Governments on the following (para. 33).

A communication was sent to all Member States in early 2008 requesting the views of Governments on how to make the Second Decade effective, to strengthen the leadership role of the United Nations in promoting international cooperation for development and to achieve the integration of developing countries into the world economy and ensure that the benefits of globalization are fairly distributed.
21 - وجهّت، في بداية عام 2008، إلى جميع الدول الأعضاء رسالة تطلب وجهات نظر الحكومات بشأن سبل إضفاء الفعالية على العقد الثاني، وذلك لتعزيز الدور القيادي للأمم المتحدة في زيادة التعاون الدولي من أجل التنمية، وتحقيق اندماج البلدان النامية في الاقتصاد العالمي وكفالة الإنصاف في توزيع فوائد العولمة.
