He commended the efforts of DPI to integrate the United Nations information centres with the UNDP offices, on a case-by-case basis and in close consultation with the Governments concerned, and he reiterated his request that DPI strengthen its activities in the Republic of Korea.

1. In 1992, an initiative was launched to integrate, wherever feasible, operations of certain United Nations information centres with field offices of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

3. In his 1994 report, the Secretary-General stated that the main objectives underlying his 1992 decision to integrate the United Nations information centres with the field operations of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) were:
