1. In its resolution 1996/34, the Economic and Social Council endorsed the system-wide medium-term plan for the advancement of women, 1996-2001, and called for a mid-term review, which is to be undertaken by the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-second session, in 1998.

5. Requests the Secretary-General to prepare, taking into account the information provided by States and relevant international organizations, a report on the implementation of the present resolution, for submission to the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-second session.

١١٣ - اعتمدت لجنة مركز المرأة في دورتها الثانية واﻷربعين القرار ٤٢/٢ المتعلق باﻹفراج عن النساء واﻷطفال المحتجزين كرهائن في المنازعات المسلحة بمن فيهم من يسجن لاحقا.

7. Requests the Secretary-General to continue to review the situation and to assist Palestinian women by all available means, and to submit to the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-second session a report on the progress made in the implementation of the present resolution.
٧- يطلب إلى اﻷمين العام أن يواصل استعراض الحالة، وأن يقدم المساعدة إلى المرأة الفلسطينية بكل الوسائل المتاحة، وأن يقدم إلى لجنة مركز المرأة في دورتها الثانية واﻷربعين تقريراً عن التقدم المحرز في تنفيذ هذا القرار.

As recommended in Economic and Social Council resolution 1996/6, those national action plans will serve as a basis for the preparation of a synthesized report on implementation plans of Governments and the United Nations system, which will be submitted to the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-second session, in 1998.

This updates the report of the Secretary-General submitted to the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-second session, in March 1998, entitled “Synthesized report on national action plans and strategies for implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action” (E/CN.6/1998/6).
