He took it that the Conference wished to confirm Ambassador Woolcott in the office of President.

Following the order in which the requests were received, I should now like to give the floor to the Ambassador of Australia, His Excellency Peter Woolcott.

We would especially like to acknowledge our colleague Ambassador Woolcott's able stewardship of this side event.

I note that Ambassador Woolcott said that, in a future side event, we might return to some of the issues already covered on definitions.

At its 1st meeting, on 30 April, the Committee elected by acclamation Mr. Woolcott to serve as Chair of the first session.

I would like to thank Ambassador Woolcott for his excellent detailed report on the interesting discussions we had on three afternoons last month, with the active participation of experts from the scientific community.
