The present note provides information on the activities of the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture, notably the recommendations adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Fund at its thirty-eighth session.

The following guidelines and procedures were recommended by the Fund's Board of Trustees at its ninth, tenth, eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth sessions and approved by the Secretary-General.
وفيما يلي اﻹجراءات والمبادئ التوجيهية التي أوصى بها مجلس أمناء الصندوق في دوراته التاسعة والعاشرة والحادية عشرة والثانية عشرة والثالثة عشرة والتي أقرها اﻷمين العام.

8. In order to be able to fulfil its mandate satisfactorily and meet the increase in new applications received for 2004 the Board of Trustees of the Fund estimated at its eighth session that the Fund would need at least US$ 300,000 before its ninth session in January 2004.
8- وقد رأى مجلس أمناء الصندوق في دورته الثامنة أنه لكي يتسنى للصندوق أداء ولايته بصورة مرضية في عام 2004 ومواجهة الزيادة في عدد الطلبات الجديدة الواردة، فإنه سيحتاج إلى ما لا يقل عن 000 300 دولار من دولارات الولايات المتحدة قبل دورته التاسعة التي ستُعقد في كانون الثاني/يناير 2004.

5. Welcomes the participation of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fund at the present session of the Working Group and encourages the Chairman and/or another member of the Board to attend the next session of the Working Group;

٨١- تجدد طلبها أيضاً الى اﻷمين العام أن يستفيد من جميع الامكانيات القائمة لمساعدة مجلس أمناء الصندوق في جهوده الرامية الى زيادة التعريف بالصندوق وبالعمل الانساني الذي يؤديه وفي ندائه لتقديم التبرعات؛

7. Renews its request to the Secretary-General to make use of all existing possibilities, including the preparation, production and dissemination of information materials, to assist the Board of Trustees of the Fund in its efforts to make the Fund and its humanitarian work better known and in its appeal for contributions;

It essentially presents the recommendations adopted by the Fund's Board of Trustees at its twenty-second session (Geneva, 12 to 28 May 2003), which were approved on 6 June 2003 by the Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights on behalf of the Secretary-General.
