On 16 October 2013, Bishop Christoforos of Karpasia, who had been prevented during the previous 18 months from visiting the northern part of Cyprus and his diocese, was allowed to visit and worship at the monastery Apostolos Andreas on the Karpas peninsula in the north-east of Cyprus.

As for the restoration of the Apostolos Andreas Monastery located in North Cyprus, the Turkish Cypriot side took an initiative and announced on 8 January 2013 that the Turkish Cypriot authorities were ready to provide the funding for the project.

In February 2013, a multi-donor partnership was established for the restoration of the Apostolos Andreas monastery under the auspices of UNDP, and two contribution agreements worth Euro2.5 million each were signed on 17 September 2013 with the Church of Cyprus and the Evkaf Administration.
