The Deputy Director of Judicial Affairs (D-1) will have primary responsibility for implementing UNTAET judiciary and prosecutional functions. He/she will assist the Director in all areas and coordinate the work of the following four sections.

The proposed Logistics Services would comprise the following four sections in addition to the Office of the Chief Logistics Officer; Logistics Operations Section, including an Air Operations Office, Transport Section and restructured Supply and Engineering Sections that would be relieved of functions not directly associated with mission logistics support.

The four sections of the International Court of Justice ruling have now been resolved comprising of the withdrawal and transfer of authority in the Lake Chad area in December 2003; along the land boundary in July 2004; the agreement on the modalities of withdrawal and transfer of authority in the Bakassi Peninsula in June 2006, and the delineation of the maritime boundary, agreed upon in May 2007.

Resolutions and agreements on the four sections of the International Court of Justice ruling have been reached, comprising the withdrawal and transfer of authority in the Lake Chad area (December 2003), along the land boundary (July 2004) and in the Bakassi Peninsula (June 2006). The delineation of the maritime boundary was completed in May 2007 and the boundary line was transposed onto an agreed map in March 2008.

The approved staffing establishment of the Strategic Support Service comprises 45 posts (1 D-1, 4 P-5, 12 P-4, 15 P-3, 1 GS (PL) and 12 GS (OL)), distributed across the front office and four sections (the Engineering Section, the Supply Section, the Contingent-Owned Equipment/Property Management Section and the Medical Support Section), and one general temporary assistance position of Supply Officer (P-4), funded from the support account.
