In considering the item, the Committee had before it a report of the Executive Director on the state of the environment and the contribution of UNEP to addressing substantive environmental challenges (UNEP/GCSS.IX/10); and notes by the Executive Director on the GEO Year Book 2006 (UNEP/GCSS.IX/INF/2), the findings of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (UNEP/GCSS.IX/INF/8) and the Global International Waters Assessment (UNEP/GCSS.IX/INF/9).
