After months of effort and inconclusive talks, at a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance and the Government held in Cairo on 18 June 2005 under the auspices of Egypt and including the presence of John Garang, Chairman of SPLM/A, an agreement was finalized that will enable the Alliance to participate in the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
