11. The Department continued to support the work of the Special Rapporteur on Disability of the Commission for Social Development, including by monitoring implementation of the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities.

Noting with satisfaction that the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities play an increasingly important role in the equalization of opportunities for persons with disabilities,

It is based on the vision of the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities, and encompasses the duties of the Special Rapporteur relating to the monitoring of Governments' implementation of the Rules, as detailed in section IV of the Rules.

The World Programme of Action concerning Disabled Persons18 addresses the situation of children with disabilities in both its " prevention " and its " equalization of opportunities " objectives; and general guidance is provided in the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities.
ويتناول برنامج العمل العالمي المتعلق بالمعوقين(18) حالة الأطفال المعوقين في هدفي البرنامج المتمثلين في " الوقاية " و " تكافؤ الفرص " ؛ وتوفر القواعد الموحدة لتحقيق تكافؤ الفرص للمعوقين توجيها عاما.

Operative paragraph 4 had been revised by inserting, after the words " to take concrete measures " , the words " to promote the implementation of relevant United Nations resolution and agreed international standards concerning persons with disabilities, in particular the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities " .
٣ - وقالت انه جرى تنقيح الفقرة ٤ من المنطوق بأن أضيفت بعد عبارة " على اتخاذ تدابير ملموسة " العبارة التالية: " من أجل تعزيز تنفيذ قرارات اﻷمم المتحدة ذات الصلة والمعايير الدولية المتفق عليها بشأن المعوﱠقين، وخصوصاً القواعد الموحدة لتحقيق تكافؤ الفرص للمعوقين " .

34. As discussed in rule 5, " Accessibility " , of the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disability,2 projects supported focused on both environmental accessibility and accessible information and communication technologies (ICT).

(c) Establishing a benchmark in disability research and statistics. The Global Survey on Government Actions on the Implementation of the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities has resulted in what has been described as the " most comprehensive body of research into disability " .

Recalling also its relevant resolutions, in particular resolutions 37/52 of 3 December 1982, by which it adopted the World Programme of Action concerning Disabled Persons, 48/96 of 20 December 1993, by which it adopted the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities, and 56/115 of 19 December 2001, as well as the relevant resolutions of the Economic and Social Council and its functional commissions,
