3. Recalls that article 24 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child expressly calls on States parties to take all effective and appropriate measures with a view to abolishing traditional practices prejudicial to the health of children;

28. Under article 24 (3) of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, States parties are required to take all effective and appropriate measures with a view to abolishing traditional practices prejudicial to the health of children.

32. The Convention on the Rights of the Child, on the other hand, obliges States parties to take all effective and appropriate measures with a view to abolishing traditional practices prejudicial to the health of children (art. 24 (3)).

The Committee on the Rights of the Child has also noted that a number of the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child should be considered applicable to the issue of child marriage, including article 24, paragraph 3, which provides that States parties should " take all effective and appropriate measures with a view to abolishing traditional practices prejudicial to the health of children.
