A non-mandatory corollary to the secured creditor's obligation to take care of the encumbered asset is its entitlement to be reimbursed for reasonable costs expended to preserve the asset, and to have these costs added to the secured obligation.
53 - والنتيجة الطبيعية غير الإلزامية لالتزام الدائن المضمون الحائز بأن يعتني بالموجودات المرهونة هي أنه يحق له أن يسترد النفقات المعقولة التي صرفها لحفظ الموجودات وأن تضم تلك النفقات إلى الالتزام المضمون.

The concern was expressed that the second sentence of paragraph 18 might inadvertently preclude the secured creditor from charging to the debtor expenses other than reasonable expenses incurred in pursuance of the secured creditor's duty of care.

Finally, the principle of the second sentence of article 85 that, in proper circumstances, a seller can retain goods until reimbursed for the reasonable costs of preserving them has also been invoked to support the idea that, unless otherwise agreed, a seller is not obligated to make delivery until the buyer pays the price.
أخيرا ، جرى أيضا الاحتكام الى المبدأ الذي تقوم عليه العبارة الثانية من المادة 85 ، والذي يجيز للبائع الاحتفاظ بالبضائع الى أن يسدد إليه المشتري النفقات المعقولة التي كان قد تحملها ، وذلك دعما للفكرة القائلة بأن البائع غير ملزم بتسليم البضائع قبل أن يسدد له المشتري ثمنها ، ما لم يتم الاتفاق على خلاف ذلك.
