" 5. Where the treaty requires a specified period of notice, or only permits of notice to take effect at the end of certain periods, and a notice is given purporting to take effect immediately, or after a shorter period than the one specified, the notice will not be void, but (if it is a notice given under the treaty) will take effect only on the expiry of the correct period as indicated in the treaty.
