215. The investigation by Sir John Stevens, Commissioner of the Metropolian Police, continued during the year without reaching a final conclusion. William Stobie, who was charged with the murder of Patrick Finucane in June 1999, is now expected to stand trial, only for aiding and abetting in the murder, later in 2001.
