Just as the New York Convention has been successful in part due to its relative brevity and simplicity, an analogous convention on conciliation should also avoid unnecessary complexity.

4. Owing to pressure of time during the negotiation of the Convention, it was not possible to include annexes on conciliation and arbitration as part of the original text.
