وتشديدا على ضرورة استمرار الجهود لتحقيق هذه الأهداف، يؤكد مشروع القرار أيضا على أن النهج الإقليمية تجاه نزع السلاح يكمل بعضها بعضا؛ ويهيب بالدول أن تقوم، كلما أمكن ذلك، بإبرام اتفاقات؛ ويرحب بالمبادرات التي اتخذتها بعض البلدان على الصعيدين الإقليمي ودون الإقليمي بغية تحقيق نزع السلاح ومنع الانتشار وتوفير الأمن؛ ويؤيد ويشجع اتخاذ تدابير لبناء الثقة.

Now more than ever before, fruitful bilateral and multilateral negotiation and cooperation should be pursued in order to achieve disarmament and to bring about a new era based on collective and universal security for the benefit of all.
وينبغي لنا الآن أكثر من أي وقت مضى أن نجري مفاوضات ونقيم علاقات تعاون مثمرة ثنائية ومتعددة الأطراف بغية تحقيق نزع السلاح وبدء حقبة جديدة ترتكز على الأمن الجماعي والشامل لصالح الجميع.

They have also weakened international efforts undertaken to date to achieve disarmament, nuclear non-proliferation, and the uses of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
