To that end, we reaffirm and fully support the primary institutional and legal role played by the Conference of the Parties to the Convention.

The report also responds to the request made by the Conference of the Parties (COP) for the Adaptation Committee to elaborate some of its activities.

It also outlines the supporting role given by the COP to the CST in implementing operational objective 1: advocacy, awareness raising and education.

6. Each State Party shall provide the Conference of the States Parties with information on its programmes, plans and practices, as well as on legislative and administrative measures to implement this Convention, as required by the Conference of the States Parties.
6- تقوم كل دولة طرف بتزويد مؤتمر الدول الأطراف بمعلومات عن برامجها وخططها وممارساتها وكذلك عن تدابيرها التشريعية والإدارية الرامية إلى تنفيذ هذه الاتفاقية، حسبما يقضي به مؤتمر الأطراف.

Article 23 would establish the basis and methodology, including indicators and monitoring data, for the effectiveness review which will be undertaken by the Conference of the Parties.

The reports contain no information to suggest that Parties are testing the indicators, as recommended by the Conference of the Parties at its first and second sessions.

The GEF has been particularly responsive in quickly mobilizing and implementing special trust funds, as requested by the COP.

The conclusions were adopted on the understanding, as stated by the Chair, that the reference in paragraph 22 below to the work undertaken by the COP on the basis of the report of the AWG-LCA presented to the COP at its fifteenth session would include all the work undertaken by the COP in Copenhagen.

This note contains a synthesis of views submitted by seven Parties on how the TAR should be considered in the ongoing work of the COP and its subsidiary bodies, how other topics and issues could be addressed, and what actions might be undertaken in this regard.
