14. The safety of United Nations peace-keeping personnel was of utmost importance and Bulgaria noted with appreciation the progress achieved by the Ad Hoc Committee on the Elaboration of an International Convention dealing with the safety and security of United Nations and Associated Personnel.

Mr. MOTSYK (Ukraine) said that, given the relative infrequency with which the Sixth Committee adopted international treaties, the forthcoming adoption of a draft international convention dealing with the safety and security of United Nations and associated personnel was an event of more than ordinary significance.
