Preventing and detecting 41. Article 52 of the United Nations Convention against Corruption establishes the rules for preventing and detecting transfers of funds of illicit origin.

With a view to combating corruption and the transfer of funds of illicit origin, the Government had reportedly adopted a series of legislative and administrative measures, including the establishment of the National Financial Intelligence Unit (UNIF) and the enactment of the Anti-Corruption Act.

The work of the Ad Hoc Committee for the Negotiation of a Convention against Corruption will be particularly relevant as the Committee will benefit from the wisdom and the findings of the global study on the transfer of funds of illicit origin, as mandated by Economic and Social Council resolution 2001/13.
وسيكون عمل اللجنة المخصصة للتفاوض بشأن اتفاقية لمكافحة الفساد على جانب كبير من الأهمية، إذ ستستفيد اللجنة من تجارب واستنتاجات الدراسة العالمية عن تحويل الأموال المتأتية من مصدر غير مشروع، التي أصدر المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي تكليفا بإجرائها في قراره 2001/13.

12. Turning to agenda item 54 (d), he said that the transfer of funds of illicit origin had a negative impact on the legitimate expansion of business, thereby impeding foreign direct investment.

Invites the Economic and Social Council to finalize its consideration of the draft terms of reference for the negotiation of a United Nations convention against corruption, by which an ad hoc committee would be requested to consider, inter alia, the elements of prevention and combating the transfer of funds of illicit origin derived from acts of corruption, including the laundering and returning of such funds, expeditiously;
