The Council further requested the Office, within available extrabudgetary resources, not excluding the use of existing resources from the regular budget of the Office, to continue to assist States, upon request, with capacity-building in the area of ratification as well as implementation of the Convention and its Protocols, in particular through international cooperation in criminal matters, including extradition and mutual legal assistance.

UNODC technical assistance in the field of international cooperation in criminal matters has been oriented over recent years towards a more hands-on, pragmatic approach: priority has been accorded to making available, or updating, model instruments that could be used as guideline tools for strengthening and streamlining the legal framework on extradition and mutual legal assistance at the national and international levels.
37- واتجهت المساعدة التقنية التي يقدمها المكتب في مجال التعاون الدولي في المسائل الجنائية خلال السنوات الأخيرة نحو نهج عملي وواقعي أكثر من ذي قبل: فقد أوليت أولوية لإتاحة أو تحديث الصكوك النموذجية التي يمكن استخدامها كأدوات إرشادية لتعزيز وتبسيط الإطار القانوني بشأن تسليم المطلوبين للعدالة وتبادل المساعدة القانونية على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي.
