The General Assembly, in its resolution 61/143 on the intensification of efforts to eliminate all forms of violence against women, urged Member States to strengthen national health and social infrastructure to reinforce measures to promote women's equal access to public health and address the health consequences of violence against women, including by providing support to victims (para. 8 (j)).
