The Turkish Cypriot leader visited Pyla and held consultations with both the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot mukhtars, who later organized a joint press conference aimed at preventing a negative perception of the bicommunal village.
فقام زعيم القبارصة الأتراك بزيارة إلى بيلا وعقد مشاورات مع مختار كل من القبارصة اليونان والقبارصة الأتراك ونظم فيما بعد مؤتمراً صحفياً مشتركاً للحيلولة دون نشوء انطباع سلبي عن القرية التي تضم أفرادا من كلتا الطائفتين.

7. Within the framework of my good offices, I met with the Greek Cypriot leader, Tassos Papadopoulos, on 16 September and with the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Ali Talat, on 31 October.

4. The current round of negotiations was initiated following the agreement of 21 March 2008 between the Greek Cypriot leader, Demetris Christofias, and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Ali Talat.

On 8 July, the Greek Cypriot leader, Tassos Papadopoulos, and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Ali Talat, met in his presence and agreed on a set of principles and decisions (see S/2006/572).

In a joint statement on 30 March 2010, just prior to the suspension of the talks to allow for the Turkish Cypriot leader to contest elections in the north, the leaders reiterated their conviction that their will for a solution would soon lead them to a mutually acceptable solution.
وفي بيان مشترك صدر في 30 آذار/مارس 2010، قبل تعليق المحادثات لتمكين زعيم القبارصة الأتراك من خوض الانتخابات في الشمال بوقت وجيز، أعرب الزعيمان مجددا عن اقتناعهما بأن رغبتهما في إيجاد حل ستقودهما سريعا إلى حل مقبول للطرفين.

32. Following a break for the elections in the north, the Greek Cypriot leader, Mr. Christofias, and the newly elected Turkish Cypriot leader, Dervis Eroglu, declared their intention to resume the talks at the end of May 2010.

I have the honour to enclose herewith a copy of the letter dated 2 April 2003 addressed to the Greek Cypriot leader, Mr. Papadopoulos, by the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mr. Denktaş, containing some ideas and measures aimed at building up trust and confidence between the two sides in Cyprus (see enclosure).
