24. Burkina Faso was concerned about the issue of staff security, which was dealt with in the report of the Secretary-General on respect for the privileges and immunities of officials of the United Nations and the specialized agencies and related organizations (A/C.5/51/3).

2. The present report, which contains information on respect for the privileges and immunities of officials, as well as their security and safety, has been prepared pursuant to Commission resolution 1997/25 and is based on the information provided by United Nations programmes, funds, offices and missions and by the specialized agencies and related organizations.

Mr. Zacklin (Assistant Secretary-General for Legal Affairs), introducing the report of the Secretary-General on respect for the privileges and immunities of officials of the United Nations and the specialized agencies and related organizations (A/53/501), said that the report had been prepared in response to three distinct resolutions of the General Assembly and dealt with the conditions in which staff members carried out their functions.
