Introducing the report of the Secretary-General on agriculture development and food security (A/67/294), he said that food prices were likely to continue to increase, due to global growth in demand for food and biofuels, rising incomes, changing diets, and declines in yield growth for major crops.

Mr. O'Connor (Department of Economic and Social Affairs), introducing the Secretary-General's report on agriculture development and food security (A/65/253), said that while there had been a decrease in the number of hungry or undernourished people worldwide, there were still 100 million more people suffering from hunger than a decade earlier.
