Since it is my first time addressing this body, allow me to congratulate Mr. Jan Kavan on his election to the presidency of the fifty-seventh session of the General Assembly.
ولما كانت هذه هي المرة الأولى التي أخاطب فيها هذه الهيئة، فاسمحوا لي أن أهنئ السيد يان كافان على انتخابه رئيسا للجمعية العامة في دورتها السابعة والخمسين.

I am very pleased at the outset of the fifty-seventh session of the General Assembly to congratulate Mr. Jan Kavan on his election to the presidency both on my own account and on behalf of the highest authorities of my country, as well as to congratulate all the members of the Bureau.
ويسعدني كثيرا، ونحن في مستهل الدورة السابعة والخمسين للجمعية العامة، أن أهنئ السيد يان كافان على انتخابه لمنصب الرئاسة، وذلك بالأصالة عن نفسي وباسم أعلى سلطات بلدي، وأن أهنئ أيضا جميع أعضاء المكتب.

At this stage, I should like, on behalf of the Council, to express my congratulations to you, Mr. Jan Kavan, on his election as President of the fifty-seventh session of the General Assembly.
أود في هذه المرحلة أن أعرب باسم المجلس عن تهانينا للسيد يان كافان على انتخابه رئيسا للدورة السابعة والخمسين للجمعية العامة.

Before continuing my statement, allow me, on behalf of the delegation of Togo and on my own behalf, to address our warmest congratulations to Mr. Kavan on his election as President of the General Assembly at its fifty-seventh session.
