It was stated that cooperation between States in the recovery of assets would enable the Convention to have a greater impact on persons engaging in corruption and erode the potential benefits of corrupt behaviour.

Stressing the need for better cooperation in the recovery of assets derived from corruption, many speakers welcomed the achievement of the United Nations Convention against Corruption to include for the first time in an international legal instrument a comprehensive chapter on asset recovery.
64- وشدّد كثير من المتكلّمين على ضرورة تحسين التعاون في مجال استرداد الموجودات المتأتّية من الفساد، ورحّبوا بما أنجزته اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة الفساد إذ تضمّنت، للمرّة الأولى في أي صك قانوني دولي، فصلا شاملا بشأن استرداد الموجودات.

The new legislation had greatly facilitated the securing of assets for subsequent confiscation and the improved management of seized assets, and had also enhanced the capacity of France to cooperate with requesting States in the recovery and return of assets.

The technical assistance provided by UNODC and the World Bank may include assistance tailored to specific country-level efforts (upon request), advocacy for the recovery of stolen assets and sponsoring a forum among developing countries to share experiences and practices in the recovery of stolen assets.
