1. In its resolution 65/289, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to establish a Senior Advisory Group to consider rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries and related issues.

It is recalled that, in response to General Assembly resolution 42/224 of 21 December 1987, in which the Secretary-General was requested to report at least once every two years on the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States, the Secretary-General submitted a report to the General Assembly at its forty-seventh session (A/47/776).
٣ - ومما يذكر أنه استجابة لقرار الجمعية العامة ٤٢/٢٢٤ المؤرخ ٢١ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٨٧ الذي طلب فيه إلى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم تقريرا مرة كل عامين على اﻷقل بشأن معدلات السداد إلى حكومات الدول المساهمة بقوات، قدم اﻷمين العام تقريرا إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها السابعة واﻷربعين )A/47/776(.

100. The Advisory Committee had had a preliminary exchange of views on the report of the Secretary-General on the review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States (A/57/774).

In its resolution 67/261, the General Assembly approved the conclusions and recommendations contained in the report of the Senior Advisory Group on rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries and other related issues (A/C.5/67/10, sect. IV), subject to the provisions contained in that resolution.

83. Under resolution 65/289, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to establish, by October 2011, a senior advisory group to consider rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries and related issues.

In addition to a review of rates of reimbursement to Governments, the report indicates that an examination is also being undertaken of military aircraft utilization and operational availability (A/65/738, para. 52).

10. The senior advisory group to consider rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries called for by General Assembly resolution 65/289 should be established in strict accordance with the resolution through a consultative process to allow for adequate representation of the States concerned.

49. Turning, finally, to the Advisory Committee's report on the review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States (A/50/1012), he pointed out that the results of the survey and the corresponding data referred to in document A/48/912 dated back to 1992-1993.
٤٩ - وانتقل أخيرا إلى تقرير اللجنة الاستشارية عن استعراض معدلات السداد إلى حكومات الدول المساهمة بقوات (A/50/1012)، فأوضح أن نتائج الدراسة الاستقصائية والبيانات المناظرة المشار إليها في الوثيقة A/48/912 تعودان إلى الفترة ١٩٩٢-١٩٩٣.

Despite the significant reduction of the gap, the existing process for arranging military aircraft may warrant review with the aim of establishing a more systematic approach, as was also highlighted by the Senior Advisory Group in its report on rates of reimbursement to troop-contributing countries and related issues (A/C.5/67/10).
