5. According to the information submitted to the Group, Mu'awwadh Mohammad Youssef Gawda (or Moawed Mohamed Yousif Goda), who is a lawyer, was arrested on 18 May 1991 in his home in Cairo.

38- محمد معوض عبد الرحمن معوض، عمره 38 عاماً، طالب في كلية الطب، يقيم في الطويل سقلطة، بسوهاج، اعتُقِل بتاريخ 15 حزيران/يونيه 1994، وهو محتجز في سجن استقبال طرة الخاضع لحراسة مشددة.

The René Moawad Foundation is responsible for that part of the ACCESS project relating to Lebanon and is carrying out a series of activities on the ground, including:

- ورشة عمل وطنية متخصصة حول " العنف على الأطفال في المدارس: نحو آلية لإلغاء العقاب الجسدي " ، بالتعاون بين المجلس الأعلى للطفولة ومؤسسة رينيه معوض وغوث الأطفال السويدي.

Training courses for literacy teachers on modern literacy techniques and the rights of the child, organized by the René Moawad Foundation, in cooperation with the Higher Council for Children;
- دورة تدريب لمعلمي محو الأمية على " التقنيات المستحدثة لتعليم محو الأمية، وعلى حقوق الطفل " . تنظيم مؤسسة رينيه معوض بالتعاون مع المجلس الأعلى للطفولة.

Study on government efforts to eradicate violence against children at school (2004) was used in the mobilization plan drawn up by the Higher Council for Children and the René Moawad Foundation to combat violence in schools.
- العام 2004: دراسة الإدارة الرسمية في إزالة العنف على الأطفال في المدارس، وقد تم استعمال هذه الدراسة في خطة التحرك التي يقوم بها المجلس الأعلى للطفولة ومؤسسة رينيه معوض للتصدي للعنف في المدارس.

375. In 2000, the Government of Mr. Jamil Mahuad implemented 56,857 housing projects, including the construction of new housing units and the renovation of existing ones.

We have no doubt that both President Jamil Mahuad Witt of Ecuador and President Alberto Fujimori of Peru have proved themselves statesmen, since both of them, through dialogue, have won peace — not only between two countries, but for the whole region.
وليس لدينا أدنى شك في أن الرئيس جميل معوض ويت رئيس اﻹكوادور والرئيس البرتو فوجيموري رئيس بيرو دللا على أنهما من رجالات الدولة العظام، إذ أنهما كسبا السلام من خلال الحوار - ليس فقط بين بلديهما، وإنما بالنسبة للمنطقة برمتها.

On 26 October 1998, His Excellency Mr. Jamil Mahuad Witt, President of the Republic of Ecuador, and His Excellency Mr. Alberto Fujimori Fujimori, President of the Republic of Peru, met in the city of Brasilia to formally place on record that the differences which had divided their two countries for decades had been definitively settled.

8. It has been alleged that in January 2001, Mu'awwadh Mohammad Youssef Gawda, who was then in the AlFayoum Prison, had not been seen by a medical doctor.
8- وادعي أن معوض محمد يوسف جودة لم يُعرَض، في كانون الثاني/يناير 2001 عندما كان آنذاك نزيلاً في سجن الفيوم، على أي طبيب.

The deprivation of liberty of Mu'awwadh Mohammad Youssef Gawda is arbitrary, being in contravention of article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and falls within category I of the categories applicable to the consideration of cases submitted to the Working Group.
إن حرمان معوض محمد يوسف جودة من الحرية هو فعل تعسفي، لكونه يتنافى مع المادة 9 من الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان والمادة 9 من العهد الدولي الخاص بالحقوق المدنية والسياسية، ويندرج ضمن الفئة الأولى من فئات المبادئ الواجبة التطبيق لدى النظر في القضايا التي تُعرض على الفريق العامل.

11. In connection with Opinion No. 3/2003 (Egypt), the Government of Egypt reported that Mr. Mu'awwadh Mohammad Youssef Gawda was released on 20 July 2003, after he no longer seemed to pose a threat.
