The claims of the Rwandan asylum-seekers are being examined by the Government in Uganda through a refugee status determination process, while more than 5,000 Rwandan asylum-seekers who sought refuge in Burundi were forcibly returned to Rwanda in June by the Burundi Government, despite an official protest by UNHCR that that operation was not in line with international protection principles against refoulement.
