41. During the reporting period, the United Nations system in the region increased awareness and invested in building the capacity of national authorities to address issues related to migration and trafficking in persons across the Sahel region.
41 - وخلال الفترة المشمولة بالتقرير، عززت منظومة الأمم المتحدة في المنطقة أنشطة التوعية واستثمرت في بناء قدرات السلطات الوطنية لمعالجة القضايا المتعلقة بالهجرة والاتجار بالأشخاص في جميع أنحاء منطقة الساحل.

5. At the regional level, the Regional Communications Group for Latin America and the Caribbean, coordinated and convened by UNIC in Mexico City, held its third meeting in Mexico City on 18 and 19 February 2009 to discuss the modalities for the establishment of a regional communications platform and to consolidate strategies and tools to enhance the visibility and image of the United Nations system in the region.
