On 11 October the Special Rapporteur transmitted an urgent appeal jointly with the Special Rapporteur on the right to freedom of opinion and expression concerning death threats received by Juan Sausa Seclen, a newspaper and radio correspondent who had allegedly received a phone call warning him to stop criticizing the National Intelligence Service.

100. On 12 July 2002, the Special Rapporteur sent a joint urgent appeal with the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention concerning the situation of seven minors who had been trafficked from El Salvador to a brothel in Guatemala City.

Furthermore, on 17 January 2001 a joint urgent appeal was sent with the Special Representative on the situation of human rights in Iran regarding the case of Mostafa Nikbakt, who reportedly was sentenced to death by the Court in Orumieh for having written slogans against the country's leader.

With regard to the case of Thet Sin and Sein With Maung, the Special Rapporteur, together with the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Human Rights Defenders, transmitted a joint urgent appeal to the Government on 21 February.

In March 2011 and May 2012, in a joint urgent appeal, the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and the Special Rapporteur on the question of torture alerted that in early February 2011, the detainee had been transferred to a high security prison in Navoi region, where he had reportedly been subjected to intermittent beating.

In 2012, five special procedures mandate holders sent a joint urgent appeal following the attack on a Shia sanctuary and other residences and mosques by army and police forces in the cities of Basra and Nassiriya, reportedly resulting in the summary execution of at least 18 unarmed members of the Followers of Imam Ahmed El Hassan El Yamani and 378 arrests.

86. Regarding the case of Erkin Musaev mentioned in my previous report, the Chairperson-Rapporteur of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and the Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment sent a joint urgent appeal on 21 March 2011.
