6. The Fifth Committee also recommends that the General Assembly confirm the appointment by the Secretary-General of Mr. Khaya Ngqula (South Africa) as a member of the Investments Committee for a term of office beginning in December 2004 and expiring on 31 December 2006.

3. Since the terms of office of Mr. Chico Pardo, Mr. Ngqula and Mr. Pillay will expire on 31 December 2006, it will be necessary for the General Assembly at its sixty-first session to confirm the appointment by the Secretary-General of three persons to fill these vacancies.

The President (spoke in French): In paragraph 6 of the same report, the Fifth Committee also recommends that the General Assembly confirm the appointment by the Secretary-General of Mr. Khaya Ngqula (South Africa) as a member of the Investments Committee for a term of office beginning in December 2004 and expiring on 31 December 2006.

Subsequent to the Pension Board meeting, the Secretary-General transformed the appointment of Khaya Ngqula (South Africa) from that of an ad hoc member to that of a regular member in order to fill the remainder of Mr. Abdullatif's term, which is due to expire 31 December 2006.

Cárdenas (Argentina), Mr. Khaya Ngqula (South Africa) and Mr. Fernando Chico Pardo (Mexico) as members of the Investments Committee for a three-year term of office beginning on 1 January 2007.

3. At the same meeting, the Committee decided, by acclamation, to recommend to the General Assembly that it confirm the appointment of Emilio J. Cárdenas (Argentina), Fernando Chico Pardo (Mexico) and Khaya Ngqula (South Africa) as members of the Investments Committee for a three-year term of office beginning on 1 January 2007 (see para. 5 below).

1. As indicated in document A/61/103, it will be necessary for the General Assembly, during its current session, to confirm the reappointment by the Secretary-General of two persons to fill vacancies in the Investments Committee resulting from the expiration, on 31 December 2006, of the terms of office of Fernando Chico Pardo (Mexico) and Khaya Ngqula (South Africa).
1 - كما هو مبين في الوثيقة A/61/103 سيكون من الضروري أن تُقر الجمعية العامة في دورتها الحالية إعادة تعيين الأمين العام شخصين لملء شاغرين في لجنة الاستثمارات نشآ بسبب انتهاء مدة عضوية فرناندو شيكو باردو (المكسيك) وخايا نغولا (جنوب أفريقيا) في 31 كانون الأول/ ديسمبر 2006.

2. In accordance with the provisions of article 20 of the Regulations of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund, the Secretary-General, after consultation with the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Board and the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions, submits for confirmation by the General Assembly the reappointment of Fernando Chico Pardo and Khaya Ngqula for three-year terms of office beginning on 1 January 2007.

11. The Chairman said that, in document A/C.5/59/7, the Secretary-General also informed the General Assembly of his decision to appoint Mr. Ngqula (South Africa), currently an ad hoc member of the Investments Committee, to replace Mr. Abdullatif (Saudi Arabia), who had submitted his resignation, effective December 2004, in order to fill the remainder of Mr. Abdullatif's term, which was due to expire on 31 December 2006.
