338. Among the Muslim denominations, maintenance is obligatory for the man alone and there is no requirement for the woman to make any outlay, even on herself, from her own money. The basis for this is the Quranic verse which states, " Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property. "
338- لدى الطوائف الإسلامية، تجب النفقة على الرجل وحده، ولا يتوجّب على المرأة أن تنفق، حتى على نفسها، من مالها الخاص، وذلك استناداً إلى الآية القرآنية التي تقول: " الرجال قوّامون على النساء بما فضل اللـه بعضهم على بعض وبما أنفقوا من أموالهـم " .
