You may recall that the Security Council Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa held a seminar on cooperation between the United Nations and the African Regional Organizations in the field of peace and security on 15 December 2005 at United Nations Headquarters.
لعلكم تذكرون أن الفريق العامل المخصص المعني بمنع نشوب النزاعات في أفريقيا وحلها والتابع لمجلس الأمن قد عقد في 15 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2005 بمقر الأمم المتحدة حلقة دراسية بشأن التعاون بين الأمم المتحدة والمنظمات الإقليمية الأفريقية في ميدان السلم والأمن.

6. The purpose of the Seminar was to assess the developments of the African peace and Security structure and the relationships with the United Nations and to workout recommendation on how to streamline them to increase efficiency both of the United Nations and the African Regional Organizations in coping with the challenges facing them in the field of peace and security.
6 - وتمثل الهدف من الحلقة الدراسية في تقييم التطورات المستجدة في هيكل السلام والأمن الأفريقي والعلاقات مع الأمم المتحدة وإعداد توصية عن كيفية تبسيطها من أجل زيادة كفاءة الأمم المتحدة والمنظمات الإقليمية الأفريقية على السواء في التصدي للتحديات التي تواجهها في ميدان السلام والأمن.

(b) Building closer cooperation between the United Nations and African regional organizations in the field of peace and security in the wake of the seminar entitled " Cooperation between the United Nations and the African Regional Organizations in the field of peace and security " , held in New York on 15 December 2005.
(ب) إقامة علاقات تعاون أوثق بين الأمم المتحدة والمنظمات الإقليمية الأفريقية في ميدان السلم والأمن على أثر الحلقة الدراسية المعنونة: " التعاون بين الأمم المتحدة والمنظمات الإقليمية الأفريقية في ميدان السلم والأمن " التي عقدت في نيويورك في 15 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2005.

I have the honour to transmit a letter dated 22 December 2005 from the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa to the President of the Security Council, transmitting the report on a seminar on the cooperation between the United Nations and the African Regional Organizations in the field of peace and security held at United Nations Headquarters on 15 December 2005 (see annex).
