قررت الجمعية العامة بقرارها ٥٠/١١٣ أن تعقد الدورة الاستثنائية المرتآة في القرار ٤٧/١٩٠ لمدة أسبوع واحد خلال شهر حزيران/يونيه ١٩٩٧ على أرفع مستوى ممكن من المشاركة، وفي هذا الصدد دعت اللجنة الى أن تكرس اجتماع فريقها العامل المخصص فيما بين الدورات والمفتوح العضوية المقرر عقده في شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٧، لمساعدة اللجنة في إجراء الاستعراض المتعلق بالدورة الاستثنائية.

" (أ) قرَّرت أن تدور المناقشات حول الموضوع المحوري، في الدورة التاسعة عشرة، لمدة يوم واحد وأن تستند إلى دليل للمناقشة يتضمن قائمة بالمسائل التي يُراد أن يتناولها المشاركون، على أن تُعد الأمانة ذلك الدليل بلغات الأمم المتحدة الرسمية الست ويكون جاهزا في موعد لا يتجاوز شهرا واحدا قبل انعقاد الدورة؛

(ب) يجوز، في حالات استثنائية، أن يُمنح الموظف المعين لمدة محددة بموجب القاعدة 301/1 (أ) ' 2`، الذي يطلب إليه الاضطلاع لفترة مؤقتة تتجاوز ستة أشهر بالواجبات والمسؤوليات الكاملة لوظيفة تكون رتبتها أعلى بصورة مميزة بوضوح من رتبة وظيفته بدل وظيفة خاصا لا يدخل في حساب المعاش التقاعدي، وذلك اعتبارا من بداية الشهر الرابع من الخدمة في الرتبة الأعلى.
