48. Under the draft Jordanian Children's Rights Act, the child of a Jordanian is entitled to Jordanian nationality at birth and the Act does not make the child's acquisition of nationality conditional solely on the nationality of his or her father.

The draft Jordanian Children's Rights Act therefore makes provision for the imposition of penalties on anyone who encourages a child to leave school or take up employment before completing the compulsory stage of education.
